Who did it happen to?
The conflict occurred between the Government of Sudan and the Janjaweed who were against the Sudanese Liberation Movement [SLM], the Justice Equality Movement [JEM], and the people of Darfur. It caused the deaths of over 400,000 civilians and displaced over 2,500,000 people. The scope and scale of the casualty figures has led the ICC to classify the actions of the Government of Sudan as genocide.
